Who We Are
169 to 1® is a global action framework introduced in 2017, and restructured for 2025 so that it helps institutions turn the UN Sustainable Development Goals into local stories of real change. We don’t set the agenda… you do. Whether you’re in education, SME or business, an NGO or a youth group, we help you choose one SDG target that matters to you, take meaningful local action, and show the world what it looks like.
We aim to activate 0.01% of the World’s institutions (169,000) to cause a ripple, so that in the within five years we will have activated the entire SDG framework. And with a little help from TEDx, we’ll be able to tell one of the greatest collaborative stories in the world.
We exist to make sustainability visible, credible, and practical, one target at a time.

What We Do
We help institutions turn one SDG target into something real, local, and visible.
For education, that means building a curriculum around one goal that helps students learn, get involved, and enjoy the process. It brings sustainability into the classroom in a way that’s creative, practical, and connected to everyday life.
For businesses, it means choosing one target they can influence and showing what responsible, measurable action actually looks like; from supply chains to workplace culture.
For NGOs, it means aligning one SDG target with their core mission, then using that focus to strengthen programmes, secure funding, and communicate impact with clarity.
For youth groups, it means picking one real-world issue, doing something about it in their own community, and showing others what youth leadership actually looks like.
